I’ve said it time and time again, but Red Velvet is one of the most iconic and loved dessert flavors to ever exist. It’s bright red color and slight hints of cocoa make it hard to say “no”. I’ve never met a red velvet dessert I didn’t like…you can’t really mess it up! Since it' has such a subtle cocoa flavor that makes it easily distinguishable from straight chocolate or vanilla, it’s the perfect in-between flavor for something if you’re unsure what someone likes!

To me, red velvet desserts are a staple for Valentine’s Day. Not only does the striking red color make it perfectly suited for the holiday, but the lightly sweet flavor that it houses; it’s not going to be overwhelming in addition to all of the chocolates you’ll eat that day…it will be a perfect pair ♥️

TIPS AND TRICKS:

- Always preheat your oven.

- All refrigerated ingredients should be room temperature unless stated otherwise.

- Gel food coloring is much more concentrated than liquid, so be sure to add the reduced amount listed on the recipe if that’s what you use.

- It’s easier to cut and serve these bars if you lift them out of the pan with the parchment paper. Less mess and cleaner lines!
